Election #
Once all GMs have completed their registration, it is time to elect a commissioner, appoint members of the Trade Committee, vote on the league’s configurable rules, choose a league name, and determine the attribute ratio to use (except for retro leagues and fictional players).
The election period lasts a maximum of 48 hours and is divided into two 24-hour segments. The first segment covers applications for commissioner and Trade Committee members, as well as proposals for the league name. The second segment is dedicated to voting for the candidates and the league name. The league rules and attribute ratio can be voted on at any time during these 48 hours.
To participate in the election, go to League Office > Dashboard. There you will find the commissioner’s message with a direct link to the election and city draft page.
City Draft #
At the same time as the election, the city draft takes place. When it is your turn to select a city, a notification appears in your news feed along with an email. To make your selection, click on Draft > City Draft or check your news feed and select the “League” alert, which includes the commissioner’s message with a direct link to the city draft page.
Setting City Preferences
To avoid unpleasant surprises, you can rank cities in order of preference. If the draft stage ends before you make your pick, the first available city on your list will be chosen automatically.
Impacts of Choosing a City #
Your city choice will affect the following elements:
Hockey Goals
Each season, the team owner sets a points target for the regular season and a playoff objective, based on the strength of your team. Your Hockey attribute is directly proportional to your results on the ice. For the first season only, the owner’s hockey goal is set according to your city’s Popularity attribute.
Payroll Budget
The owner gives you a payroll budget based on the city’s Revenue-Generating Capacity (RGC). This budget is not a strict limit but a target to reach. The payroll budget is one of the three elements used to calculate your Finance attribute, the other two being arena management and investments.
Arena Capacity
The team owner builds an arena adapted to the market of the city you select. The criteria used to determine the arena’s capacity and seating distribution are: economy, population, and popularity.
Hockey Goals and Financial Budget #
The owner’s hockey goals and financial budget are given to you once you have drafted your city.
